My University View ("the App," "we," "us") helps students and families explore colleges, compare schools, and plan campus visits. This policy explains what information the App handles, where it goes, and the choices you have. The short version: we collect only what the App needs to work, we don't run ads or trackers, and we never sell your information.
| Category | Collected? | Details |
|---|---|---|
| Contact info | Yes, if you sign in | Email address and name from your sign-in provider (e.g., Google) |
| User content | Yes | Profile details, favorites, ratings, notes, photos/documents you attach, saved contact emails, road trips |
| Approximate/precise location | No device location | We never access your device's GPS. Addresses you type (e.g., home address for road trips) are stored with your account |
| Payment info | No | If subscriptions launch, payments are processed by Stripe; card details never reach us |
| Tracking, ads, analytics identifiers | No | No ad networks, no cross-app tracking, no analytics trackers, no data brokers |
Solely to provide the App's features: saving and syncing your college research, pre-filling the email drafts you send to coaches and admissions, geocoding addresses you type so road trips can be routed, and (if enabled) managing your subscription. We do not use your information for advertising, profiling, or any purpose unrelated to the App. We never sell or rent personal information.
Like most modern apps, certain features are powered by third-party services that necessarily receive limited technical information:
Links that leave the App (school websites, NCSA, review sites, maps apps, search engines) are governed by those sites' own privacy policies.
The App is designed for high-school students exploring college, used with their parents. It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, contact us and we will delete it. We encourage parents to use the App together with their students โ that's what it's built for.
The App is served over HTTPS; cloud data is protected by row-level security so accounts are isolated from each other; device-only passwords are stored as cryptographic hashes; and sign-in through Google/Apple/Microsoft means we never handle those passwords at all. No system is perfectly secure, but our design principle is to hold as little of your information as possible.
Wherever you live โ including California (CCPA/CPRA) and the EU/UK (GDPR) โ you may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information, and you may ask what information we hold about you. Because we don't sell personal information or share it for cross-context advertising, there is nothing to opt out of on that front. Contact us using the address below and we'll respond within 30 days.
If we make material changes, we'll update the effective date above and note the change in the App. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated policy.
